Location & Climate

Our estate Villa Belvedere is located in beautiful natural surroundings - nestled in a wild landscape on the hillside of Monti Pisani - and can be reached directly from the village Rigoli via an 800m long private road.

Located 130m above sea level, the estate offers an incredible wide view overlooking the plain with olive groves and fruit trees of our ecological agriculture and the sea in the back. The climate is mild, very sunny and the air is scented by a fresh sea breeze and herbal scents. If the weather is clear, the Leaning Tower of Pisa can be seen well in a 7km distance as well as the islands in the sea and the port of Livorno.

Moreover, Lucca, a city of great historical importance and, amongst other things, the birthplace of Puccini Giaccomo, is only 11 km away and offers many well-preserved monuments, ancient buildings and a beautiful shopping atmosphere.

Activities & Attractions

Besides Pisa and Lucca, also Florence (70 km), San Gimignano with its many famous towers, the Etruscan town of Volterra (70km) and many museums, palaces, exhibitions and concerts in a historical ambience in the surrounding area are absolutely worth seeing.
In addition, the enchanted region of Monte Pisano, which is one of the oldest mountain ranges of Tuscany and has many large oak, pine and chestnut trees is predestined for hiking and trekking. Here you can find foxes, badgers, dormice, porcupines and wild boar, hares, turtles and many species of bats as well as more than 100 wild herbs that can be used for cooking.

What other area is better known for its amazing cuisine than Tuscany? In close proximity to Villa Belvedere, you can find a wide range of typical restaurants and pizzerias, from simple village taverns to trendy gourmet restaurants at the highest level.

A break to enjoy and relax is great, but one or the other might also look for some activities, which can also be found in the area:

Mountain Biking

Many of our guests left detailed route suggestions from simple trails in Monte Pisano to challenging trails up the 2000m high pass in the Appines behind Lucca.

Sun, Sand & Sea

Beautiful beaches can be found just 12 to 20 kilometres away around Pisa and Viareggio. The vast natural sandy beaches with small dunes nearby the Natural Park of San Rossore (16km) are great as well. The nice and mild climate makes swimming in the sea possible from April/May until the beginning of November.

Sailing & Motor Boats

The nearby "Marina di Pisa" (12 km) and the port of "Viareggio" (20km) offer charter options (with or without crew) for sailing and motor boat enthusiasts, as well as courses to gain a boat or sailing license.

Skiing & Snow Hiking

Yes, even that is possible in Tuscany! From the beginning of December until the beginning of May, Abetone, which is 70 kilometre away and 1,200m to 2,000m above sea level, attracts winter sport enthusiasts with 54 kilometres of slopes. Start and end the day with a swim in our pool and enjoy some downhill or cross-country skiing in between - a doubled holiday experience!
